Art Exhibit Explores Issues of LGBT Equality
The artists of Studio 4 at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA are creating a topical show of 2D and 3D artworks reflecting on the themes of pride and equality. Artist and show organizer John Gascot says, “It’s exciting to be a part of change in motion. My partner and I have been together for over 15 years. We have 2 dogs and keep house just like any typical married couple. There is nothing indecent about that. Our partnership deserves the same protections under the law as anyone else’s.”
The artists of Studio 4 believe that art is a vehicle for social change and are devoted to making our community a better place. They have committed to donating a portion of all proceeds raised via art sales to Fairfax Pride. An extraordinary evening that includes live entertainment is in the works for the exhibit’s mid-month “Pride Party” reception, taking place on Saturday, June 15, from 6 until 9 pm in building W-4. It is free and open to the public.
The exhibition will be on display for the entire month of June at the Workhouse Arts Center, Building Four, 9601 Ox Road, Lorton VA, 22079. Gallery Hours: Wed-Sat 11:00am-7:00pm and Sun 12:00pm-5:00pm. For directions, please visit our event page

Fairfax Pride works to bring together the LGBT community of northern Virginia. Its primary purpose is to execute a yearly Pride Festival in Fairfax, promoting a positive image and enhanced visibility within Northern VA for the LGBT community. This organization also donates time to outreach efforts like serving the needy, anti-bullying campaigns, and especially the fight for equality.

That’s me! Today Ron and I celebrate our 14th Anniversary and enter our 15th year of crazy union. Every day is an adventure and filled with laughter (even the tough ones) and I thank the Universe/gods/goddesses/Cher (whatever forces are making this planet go round) that our paths crossed.

I can’t imagine life without him.
